about me "siddhu"
सिद्धार्थ वर्मा , born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in 1960.
Though his father was a teacher of art in ahmedabad, in the early years, Siddharth, consciously resisted all attempts at pursuing a career in art. In the final year of school however his resistance weaken, as his deeply creative instincts and his father convinced him to join Art College. He went on to earn a Diploma in Fine Arts from the C N College of Art, Ahmedabad.
Coming form Ahmedabad, small place called BAPUNAGAR as a 16-year-old in C N art college, Siddharth states, "every street was a source of thrill". He was unaware about the presence of art schools in society. He earned his diploma in Fine Arts after studies of four years and emerged as a complete artist.
Siddharth’s vocabulary has been described as an "imagery exploring a human mind, which he navigates with the amazement of a lady, into a world of sacred mountains, speaking animals and unknown waters." A keen student of world cinema, he says his pictures are like an artist waiting for a canvas. He begins constructing the set with gripping images and then begins painting. "Painting is easy. It merely involves opening the mind," says Siddharth. He creates situations that are twisted away from the familiar, but yet not as far away as to be totally unrecognizable. Each form, figure and natural element is clearly evident to the viewer, and only transformed in the sense of the role it plays or the position it occupies.Everything that is expected is turned on in its head and the artist has no qualms in painting a blood red sky or mountains that are bright yellow or female face which is green and elephant which is red. He gathers visuals from nature and his memory as child and inspired from his deep love for animals. Siddharth's paintings explore landscapes recalled and recreated through the journey of nature। Some critics have termed these as mystical and decorative pictures or landscapes that have been moulded by the inner self and the alternative reality of nature. The artist's mind creates and modifies visions of nature, transforming them into patterns and harmonious blends that one can't imagine, let alone see. The artist attaches a nostalgic quality to his landscapes, trying to recall the stories of his youth, which much to his disappointment have lost their magic when viewed through an adult lens. He lives and works in Ahmedabad.
